Guest guest
Jenn, I just wanted to comment on your message. I joined this listserve when my son, Jake was diagnosed (he was a newborn.) I stayed on for a month or so, then I had to get off the list. I was a new, first-time mom of a son with RSS. I was post-partum and just not ready to read about all the problems associated with RSS. At that point in my life this list brought me down, as I was not able to handle the problems discussed on this list. On the outside I had it together. I went to doctor appointments, had three different therapists in my home on a weekly basis and had all my friends fooled. I could do it all!!!!! Ha! Everyone always commented how much I did for Jake and what a great parent I was. On the inside I was a mess. I just couldn't come here to this list and be depressed any further. About a year later I rejoined. I was ready to be a part of this list. I needed information, support and advice and it was here. That was about three years ago and I still faithfully read my RSS digest almost on a daily basis. We have had our ups and downs, but I know they are just that.... ups and downs. For every bad day, we have 100 good days. Now instead of this being a depressing place, it is a place where I feel welcome, where I fit. If I have a question, someone always has an answer. And it is like you said, people I have never met (or met only once) just understand so much more than close friends. It is nice to know I am not alone.
