Placing me on Armour for 2 weeks to see if I improve. _________________________________________ Formerly diagnosed with GD 5/1/02 age 37 years. What do you make of these numbers, which are in the normal range and how I feel? I am so confused (and scared) because of how I feel. I have gained 36 pounds since this all started last year. If I'm in remission, why do I feel like this? Please help with any advice. Thanks so much
Guest guest
- The important thing to remember is that even if it's normal range, it may not be normal *for you*. My FT4 is low end normal like yours and I feel hypo lousy as well. Other people have had similar experiences. Typically, Graves' patients feel better at FT4 levels which are at the higher end of normal and TSH close to 1.0. So for you, you sound hypothyroid. The doctor seems to think so, too, which is why he's starting you on the Armour to see what happens. Your TSI antibodies are under 125%, but there are still kind of high which means you still have antibody activity. One rule of thumb is that for real remission, the TSI must be under 2%. Whether this is a realistic goal for Graves' people hasn't really been determined for certain. I'm not sure I can tell what the other two antibody tests are, hopefully someone else's brain works better than mine. I'm not an expert on Armour, but I thought that it could take 4-6 weeks to see and feel a difference in labs. So if you're only on it for 2 weeks and they run labs, perhaps that won't show much difference yet? Anyway, hopefully it will make you feel better!
