Hi all!

I have been quite the 'lurker' lately. We are still in a temporary

apartment and looking forward to closing at the end of the month. I

feel very out of sorts, still kind of temporary thus the lurking.

Matt is starting to meet his new team of doctors. Some I like, some

I think I'll be looking for other referrals. We'll see. Anyway, I

am curious if anyone has done a glucose tolerance test and what does

Dr. H think of them? I am wondering if the fasting the night before

is not worth the results? Matt is having issues and I just am

curious about what his blood sugars do with the glucose load. If Dr.

H is a " fan " of this test, I would ask my pediatrician to order it

before convention. If you think she would be against it, I'll wait

and ask her about it in July.

Thanks!

She only had us do this test after had a severe hypoglycemia

episode (blood sugars crashed during a soccer game on a hot day and

then skyrocketed above 460 -- found out later that it was due to the

liver releasing its stores of glucose when the blood sugars hit

basically o).

She did have fast the entire night, and our test was

scheduled for 30 minutes after she woke up.

If you think he is having any signs of insulin resistance or severe

hypoglycemia, it might be worth it. What are the doctor's reasons

for ordering it?

Beth,

Dr.H ordered OGTT for my daughter after she developed symptoms of

Insulin Resistance and she fasted from midnight and her test was at

9am. It seems most doctors order or check only the sugar level but

Dr.H is particular about the insulin level also, so you may want to

mention it to your doctor also.

Best Regards,

Minimol
