I think Simon recently commented that there's some research to back up the effectiveness (it reduces inflammation). Some people have suggested as much as 2 tablespoons twice a day provided it's mixed with a protein like yogurt or cottage cheese. I was buying this in capsules but switched to the oil (sold refrigerated at the health food store), which seemed to help more. Other suggestions have included lots of artificial tears, massaging them with a warm, wet washcloth, and epsom salt/baking soda packs. You could probably get more on these by querying the archives. My guess on vitamins is you're safer to continue avoiding iodine. I've heard Thorne mentioned as an iodine-free brand (also, perhaps, a brand at Walmart?). I'm using one called NuChapter Woman's One Daily. I found it by going to my health food store with a magnifying glass and reading a lot of labels! Hope you're feeling better.
