Guest guest
Can anyone tell me what signs a doctor may be seeing to suspect the possibility of thyroid cancer? Also, what steps would be taken to determine the diagnosis? Thank you for any info you might be able to give me. Cindy
Guest guest
Hi Cindy, Symptoms of thyroid cancer vary. The most common mode of presentation, occurring in two thirds of cases, is a rapidly enlarging neck mass in patients with a long standing history of goiter. Compressive symptoms, including hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, cough, shortness of breath are frequently seen and one 1/3 of patients have chronic neck pain. Most patients have a solitary nodule, or a dominant, fixed mass of 5 to 10 cm in diatmeter, multiple other nodules, and enlarged cervical lymph nodes. Serum thyroglobulin concentrations are frequently high. Take care, Elaine
