I do the diet with my kids, as we all have this " challenge " together

(it's kind of like a family project now). Are there any other parents

doing the diet? Any special results? My chronic headaches are less

and I have always had adult acne...which has cleared up!

I'm doing the diet along with my kids although I've never had myself

tested formally. I just know that I am no longer anxious, depressed,

fatigued and breathless all the time. I also know that when I've

cheated, my life the next day was awful. I just refuse to eat wheat at

all and don't want to bother trying other grains that may have gluten in

them, but no wheat. It's easier for me to keep to the same diet as my

kids and I'm more relaxed and content than I've been since I was 12 years

old.

Good luck to you and any others out there who've found this strange

blessing in disguise.

Yes Kjornan, this topic came up a little while ago and there are a

few of us out here! I am on the diet with my children. Since I have

been gluten and caseine-free (4 months) the following symptoms have

completely cleared up: fuzziness, drugged feeling, exhaustion, word-

finding problems, chronic back pain at night (started about 4:00

a.m.), chronic constipation, headaches 3-4 days per week ... hmmm,

may be a couple more but that will do for now. I feel great! I have

had two headaches since February 5; both followed challenges to the

diet. I've also lost 26 pounds without trying and no longer crave

anything with wheat in it.

We are on the diet 24/7 at home but I have infringements occasionally in the

" real " world.

Too nerve wracking to have non gfcf items at home. Our son (7) is very

accepting of the diet often saying about non diet foods - " no thanks, makes

me sick. " Sometimes he does come out with laments like " no cookies, no ice

cream, no pizza, etc.. " not upset though, just kinda reminding himself. We

spend time explaining to him why we don't want him to be sick, he seems to

listen. Never dreamed he had self control pre diet but then he had chronic

GI problems and maybe he still remembers the discomfort.

We are healthier feeling when we follow the diet too.

I started this diet when I was 8 months pregnant with my DD and stayed on the

diet for 8 months while nursing her. I felt great while on the diet and found

out if I cheated in the first month after I had her, she'd get terrible

colic. The down side to the diet for me was terrible constipation. When I

first started the diet I had an incredible sense of contentment, had a lot of

bloating that went right away, and I had a lot more energy. I'm glad I

started it at the end of my pregnancy because I felt wonderful for the last

month and didn't have any problems with heartburn or retaining water. I got

off the diet recently and have the same old bloating back although I'm no

longer constipated. I'm starting to get depressed more now and a lot more

tired. I did feel so deprived while on the diet and I'm a junk foodaholic. I

would recommend this diet for anyone since I felt the best ever.

My husband and I are doing the diet as well as our 4 year old twins (Triston-

autistic, -aperger's). We have both had problems with this and that

and no help from our doctors other than prescriptions for long term use.

However, once going off milk, my husband began sleeping better through the

night, less headaches, less stomach irritation and gas. I have had allergy

problems since we moved to Houston (from Chicago) 2 years ago and have had

pneumonia twice in that time. Since being off milk, all allergy symptoms

have gone away and I'm medication free and loving it. We're also getting

into the wheat free stuff since we're already cooking it all for our kids.

It's just easier to have 1 loaf of bread in the house, etc. Since we've

started ourselves, it seems like there are less errors or slip ups in the

children's diets. It just seems fairer to the them as well. Donna

--- Hi

I do the diet with my son- I was doing great the first

two months, but man I have been cheating when he is in

school lately and it is costing me. When I first

started " cheating " my face turned beat red and I got

really sleepy! It's like doing sleeping pills. Now

that made me mad and it seemed like every where I

turned milk chocolate and fresh baked bread was

lurking/! My face has mostly stopped turning red and

every new day I think ok, I m gonna stop- If i eat it

before work I am really tired and my joints ached so I

dont but geez now its like those men who come home,

kick up their feet and open a can'o beer! I gotta

quit! I lost over 20 pounds on the diet and my carpal

tunnel seeemed to disappear, but now my wrists are

swelling again! I had no sleepiness or red checks

prior to begining the diet that I ever noted-though

occassionally my cheecks turned red for no " reason "
