Guest guest
I appreciate you all responding to my post. I've called their office and they are suppose to call me right back to give me the results from yesterday's blood work and the nurse is also looking/double checking my dosage of tapazole, although she said it was right, I insisted that she make sure for me. Since I've been on this dosage, my throat has bothered me but she said it had nothing to do with my medication, that it is more likely allergies..ugh. I know what I feel and when it started but trying to get anyone to listen is like impossible around here. Thank you guys for listening to me though, that means so much. I feel like a lab rat and I am beginning to really resent this! I also asked the endo nurse if I could make another appt to see him and she flat out said no..that I had one for the 27th. Ugh. Well..I just wanted to let you all know that I am taking your advice and will check into another endo too! This is scary! Especially the part about being overdosed! How dare them do that to me! I will let you all know what I find out! I began taking the tapazole on April 15th, 60mg a day then last Monday, it was increased to 90mg..so I've been on this one drug for less than a month. I began taking the propanolo(40mg until last monday..now it's 80mg) early March along with the lexapro(10mg a day until last monday..now it's 20mg a day) Make this simpler, I will just give you a list of my meds... Tapazole: 90mg a day..3 10mg pills 3 x a day Propranolol: 80 mg a day...4 20mg pills 4 x day Lexapro: 20mg a day once a day Xanax: 0.05 one every six hours as needed..usually I take 1-2 a day Atarax: 25mg 1 every six hours (these make me so sleepy I can only take one at night..its suppose to be for itching and something else..but I cant remember what, nerves or depression maybe?) My other blood results have been: Early March '03 T3 -- 27 Normal range 22 - 35 T4 -- 13.7 Normal range 4.5-12.5 THS <0.01 Normal range .4 - 5.5 Was placed on the propranolo and lexapro and xanax on this day 4/15 at the endos office FT3 323.1 Normal range 60 - 181 Went on 60mg of Tapazole that day 4/28 regular doctors office cause I was getting so sick FT3 476 Normal range 60 - 181 Endo was faxed these numbers and he then increased my tapazole to 90mg Also increased my propranolo and lexapro and added the Atarax.. His nurse just called me back and said that dose IS right and my labs haven't come in yet but she will call me tomorrow if they should come in and they will also fax the results to my reg doctor. She also told me again that this medicine would not cause my throat to bother me..so! Ugh! I've actually started a daily journal on what I take, what I feel physically and emotionally and what I am learning about the GD, hoping if nothing else, it will help me mentally! Take care and thank you all so much! I will stop back in tomorrow! sarah

I know first hand it is kind of hard to describe throat things, almost everything just feels like a " sore throat " . Although things like pain on swallowing is usually just the thyroid swelling, it isn't nice but it goes when things settle down. Are you aware of the issues with antithyroid drugs and agranulocytosis? If you develop chronic infections, typically throat and mouth infections come first, and they are usually quite colourful (i.e. obviously an infection, and not just thyroids swellings and shrinking), stop the Tapazole, and immediately(!) get a white blood count from the nearest medical establishment (GP, hospital). This is a very rare drug reaction (0.4%) but it is very dangerous, unlike most of the other adverse effects of Tapazole which are mostly unpleasant, or uncomfortable rather than immediately dangerous. > I feel like a lab rat and I am beginning to really resent this! Patience, it will get sorted, and you will feel much better soon. > I > also asked the endo nurse if I could make another appt to see him and > she flat out said no..that I had one for the 27th. Ugh. Most of them go by the numbers, so unless you have " obvious " symptoms it probably won't make much difference till you get the test results. > I began taking the tapazole on April 15th, 60mg a day then last > Monday, it was increased to 90mg..so I've been on this one drug for > less than a month. The 90mg is a big dose, but then it is pretty unusual to have the fT3 level going up after two weeks of 60mg of Tapazole. My guess is your next blood test results will be revealing, but if the fT3 is still rising you'll be needing a second opinion, so that new endo your looking for will come in useful. Guest guest
, Your dosage of Propranolol is very high as well. I am on 20mg/dy and my doc says that it is more than enough and it seems to be. If you go off of it you need to ween your self carefully or you can have major heart problems. 80mg is a long way to ween. Take care,- wrote:I appreciate you all responding to my post.
