Guest guest
Hi My 10 year old daughter has Graves Disease we found out in February this year. She has been put on to carbimazole and I'm told she will have to take it for the next two years. At the moment they are still trying to get the dose right last time I went to see the specialist he told me she had gone under. I am just looking for advice Graves Disease in children most of what I have read is for adults and I would like to know is there much difference between an adult with graves than a child and I would like to hear from other people who have children with Grave Disease. Thanks Regards Carole
Guest guest
Carole, there are several people here in the group with children with Graves. I just want to welcome you now, and assure you you'll hear from them soon. Guest guest
Hi, Carole, I'm Amy's Pam. Amy was diagnosed about 18 months ago at the age of 13. She is currently on BRT (block and replace) after first going on Tapazole alone. In summary, she's doing fantastic compared to when she was first diagnosed, but it hasn't been an easy ride, and we're still hoping for remission. I'm sorry I've haven't chimed in earlier. We live in the Kansas City area and friends of ours recently lost their home in a tornado. They were staying with us for a few days and it's been hectic, to say the least. It's late now and I'm needing to head for some sleep, but we can share more in the days ahead. Please feel free to email me privately and I'll share with you all I can. Hang in there; Graves' is tough on the entire family, but you've started right by joining this group. The people here have been a real lifeline to us. I haven't read all the posts, but do you have a good doctor, one you feel supports your daughter, and your choice of treatment? That was critical for us.
