Guest guest
Hi, I'm new to this group and tried posting something yesterday, but it doesn't seem to have made it. So I will try again. Does anyone know of a health insurance plan that will accept adults with RSS and/or who are under 4'10 " ? Thanks, Klo
Guest guest
Hi Klover- I've never had problems getting health insurance and in my adult life I've had BC/BS (Empire State and Of Illinois), US Healthcare/Aetna and one other whose name I forgot. However all but one of them were group policies from work (I paid for ES BC/BS from age 19 to 23, when I was too old for my parents' policy but still in college and not yet working). I also have what I consider to be a mild case of RSS and, without any active issues related to it, I didn't think it would be a problem to not tell them about it, since it's wasn't anything that had an affect on my health. -Sharon- Just an RSS kid who grew up 38y, 3.5M 4'6.75 " , 94# > Hi, > > I'm new to this group and tried posting something yesterday, but it > doesn't seem to have made it. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, Thanks for responding. BC/BS was the first to turn her down because of the RSS. The next one was GoldenRule/UHC because she was under 4'10 " (she's between 4'8 " & 4'9 " ). She also has a very mild case of RSS and has never received any medical care because of it. She has been quite healthy all her life. She can stay on my insurance through the COBRA plan for 36 months, but it is quite expensive compared to an individual plan. I'm sure once she gets hire on as a teacher, she should have no problem with a group plan. There lies another issue where because of her size, prospective employers immediately question weather she is able to handle middle school/high school kids. What is an ES insurance plan (emergency surgery)? Thanks again for your input. Guest guest
Hi K- ES BC/BS = Empire State BC/BS (I had mentioned it earlier in the message...I had it when I still lived in NY) If the RSS doesn't really affect her, why does she have to mention it? Like I said, I didn't. And what kind of BS (that stands for bull ca-ca, not Blue Shield <G>) is it that GoldenRule/UHC wouldn't carry her because she was SHORT?!?!?! As for the people who interview her...it might do her well to have a " stock answer " ready for the " Can you handle the kids " question, since she's going to have that for her entire career. -Sharon- Just an RSS kid who grew up > > > Hi, > > > > > > I'm new to this group and tried posting something yesterday, but > > it > > > doesn't seem to have made it.
