The one we're going to is the same way... you're not in Woodstock, NY, are

you? :)

I guess we're assuming it's ok. I don't think Chinese cooking normally uses

other than rice flour. Still we avoid the obvious problems like the

dumplings and such.

We eat out mostly at Chinese & Japanese restaurants (that is, when we

do eat out...). I usually go early and quiz the staff. So far,

everyone's been very nice about it. Look out for MSG (on general

principle) and Shoyu/soy sauce (wheat). Read labels on other sauces,

especially bbq and liquid smoke. Noodles are often rice or bean

noodles, so that's good news!

Hi,

I am new to this list and I am Chinese, in LI, NY. I don't put my

GFCF son eat in Chinese restaurants since there are msg and soy sauce

which contain wheat. Also not all noodles are rice and bean so please

be careful as most restaurant owner doesn't even know about what is

in their food! Rice is OK. I don't cook but my in law does, my in law

will buy some noodle back and thinking my son can have it but turns

out that the noodles contain wheat (but in Chinese it only indicated

" Rice " ). So, please watch out.

There is a very good Chinese Buffet on RT 101 right across from The

Whitney mall, it is called the East Buffet, you may want to try it

and it does has Mongolian too(I think the manager can also give you

some information on what is in their food).
