Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I'm so glad to hear that getting stabilized helped your son (and you). It's confusing at any age to learn that your physical status can affect your mental and emotional well-being. I wanted to alert you that in a month or so your son's doctor will probably need to decrease his dose on Tapazole as the excess thyroid hormone that was in his system gets used up. The doc should do follow-up blood tests to decide when to start decreasing the dose; you can also post those results here. Without a decrease in dose he can become hypothyroid, which can include depression and muscle aches. An alert doc can keep this from happening, though. Down the road, when your son's ready to stop taking the beta blocker, it's also important to wean off it gradually rather than stopping abruptly, as doctors sometimes recommend. Happy Mother's day.
