Hi White Wing,

Pam's web site describes some of her experience with alternative methods: it's

at http://www.webmosaics.com/thyroid/.

A very helpful book on the whole gamut of Graves' is Elaine 's Graves'

Disease: A Practical Guide, which you can get on Amazon. besides what's known

about the disease mechanisms, Elaine describes various aspects of treatment for

the autoimmune aspect of Graves', including the need for stress reduction

(including techniques like yoga) and do's and don't's for vitamins and

supplements (no iodine, proper zinc-copper balance, and the need to avoid immune

system stimulants while using immune modulators).

Many people have had success taking flaxseed oil, especially for the eye

problems associated with Graves'. And if you've been hyperthyroid for a while,

as I was, you may need some extra calcium and vitamin D to rebuild bone.

Finally, as Fay said, keep asking questions. I've found since I joined that many

questions I had were asked by others, meaning that the answers are likely to

help lots of people. (Some doctors could learn a lot, too.)

best wishes,
