Guest guest
I'm not sure how they are organizing it this year, but I know there is talk of having walkie talkies or some system where you don't have to wait right there where Dr. H. is, you could technically be somewhere else and then make your way to her when it's your turn. I was only at one convention but I know it's extremely difficult to keep on a schedule, I know Jen and Jodie do more than their best to keep it reasonable, but I should think that it won't be exactly 7:10. Have you been there before? If not Dr. H. is set up in one conference room and then another one, down a hall, is used for the functions. It's an open door, you can come and go as you please so I wouldn't worry about not being allowed in. As for the food, I would just load up your plates as normal and if you had to, I'm sure you could take it over to the other conference room. I hope that answers some of your questions. I wouldn't be worried about it, there are so many people around that are so helpful that I'm sure if at the very least someone else can get a plate of food for you and yours. Guest guest
Thank you.. I am meeting a friend there and she said she will hold us a seat and get us food. Her son is GHD and she has SOD/ONH and is Adult GHD... so she is going for both herself and her son.... Guest guest
Jodi here - I can answer your question with ease. Dr. H's station is right outside of the room where the luau/food will be. I will be there along with Sherry, my partner at that table for several years now. It's my job to keep Dr. H. on schedule as close as I can and to counsel/advise parents before and after they go in to see Dr. H. We try our best to keep on schedule, but if Dr. H. runs over 5 minutes with one family and then 10 minutes with another and then 5 with another, that already puts us 20 minutes behind. Part of my mission is to give Dr. H. a five minute warning and then stand there when the time is up so that she knows that we are out of time for that family. That being said, I would advise anyone who has an appointment and is worried about getting food to make sure that someone gets it for them. We ask parents to show up a few minutes before their alloted time so that Sherry can get info and I can talk to them. We can also let the parents know if we are running way behind and give them a walkie-talkie so we can call them when it is closer to being seen. I hope this helps. As I said, we try hard to keep on schedule, but Dr. H. does not always abide by that. There are also parents who do not abide by it and demand more and more of her time. If you all understand the parameters that we are working in, it would really help everyone. Please don't get mad at me if I say time is up and it's time to leave. Jodi Z.
