Guest guest
Hi everyone, Most of you don't know me well, but I've been reading this list for over four years, and occasionally posting when I had a tip or trick that I thought would help. We've been gfcf twice, for several months each time, but neither time found much benefit there, although AAL testing indicates high IAG and some gliadomorphins. And, frankly, after those careful trials, I decided it was a change to our lifestyle I wasn't willing to keep 'experimenting' with, due to the crimp it puts in my son participating in social events and in my ability to give all three of my children what they need from me (no flames please). I may continue to read this group for general information, if it can bring itself back to being a pleasant 'community' again. I do however, still believe in the opioid/leaky gut theory, and believe that there may be some other related solution for my son. I am very interested in enzymes, and whatever other bright ideas that might lead this way. The recent firestorm on this list bothers me, though. I worry that this list community has a very fixed position, an opinion that the diet is the answer to everything. If the community on this list gets stuck in this position, my worry is that there will be no room for any other ideas or answers to occur, and that many people who might help and contribute will consider their participation so unwelcome as to go elsewhere. Anytime there are 'sacred cows', or topics that cannot be objectively discussed, free inquiry is stifled. Please consider that this free inquiry is the gift of these internet lists, where so many of us get to share our thoughts with each other, and that to lose it in this gfcfkids 'community' would be a terrible thing. Certainly, I believe that the diet has helped many children, some in absolutely tremendous ways, others to a lesser extent. Then there are kids like my son, for whom it does not seem like the answer, for whatever reasons, which must be accepted, too. This is my entreaty to you to work to create a space on this list for differing opinions. There's only so much that can be accomplished from preaching to the choir. Thanks for letting me have this say. Terri in Santa Cruz>>>> Terri, I have been reading this list since January and have found it very informative in many alternative therapies. I have expanded my knowledge base in areas I had never dreamed existed and without this list may never have learned of them. I have never felt this was a one-way-does-all list. I do not know how I could have survived living with my son without this generous group of folks. Guest guest
I agree with the opinion that the more information I get, the better able I am to help my sons. I also don't have very much time to spend perusing the Net for other websites and have come to depend on this site for most of the information I have on the GFCF diet and other treatment options as well. I don't feel pressured to try anything I don't want to, but appreciate learning from all the other parents out there doing everything they possibly can to cure their children of this awful disorder.
