Guest guest
Hi , Thanks so very much. No, I missed the flaxseed email. If anyone has it would you please send it to me? Right now my eyes are watery and a little puffy. The eyeballs themselves look ok. I called my Endo last week because I was not given an appointment since my RAI. I still don't have one. So, thanks to you, I am going to call again today and make sure that they give me one. I was told thought, that sometimes he doesn't see them till about 6 months. When I call, should I let that happen or tell them that I want one sooner? And if they ask why I want it sooner, what do I tell them? Thanks for your help. I appreiciate it so very much. Betty PS If your are expecting an answer from me, and you don't get it, please email me back with a friendly reminder. " To err is human; to forgive, divine. Guest guest
Hi Betty, Any question is a useful question. Some of this info I've learned or learned how to find, and for the rest I rely on the many knowledgeable people on the board. My CoQ10 says to take a capsule a day (it's 75 mg) with a meal. I think the key to most of the vitamins and supplements is to take them with food unless the instructions say to do otherwise. (There are some that say to take them on an empty stomach, and when it comes to calcium, it's supposed to be spaced 4 hours away from any thyroid supplement that you may be put on later.) Did you see Pam B's post yesterday on flaxseed oil? That's a good defense against eye problems. I know that generally the important thing is to have your doctor check your thyroid levels soon after the RAI so that you don't become hypothyroid, which can encourage development of Graves' eye problems. I'm sure there are some specific things to watch for. My eyes became dry and swollen underneath, which was my first sign. It's also important not to avoid cigarette smoke, which can make the eye disease worse. They say that if you do smoke, it may be best to decrease rather than add stress to your life by trying to quit. I find I have to also avoid second-hand smoke and even cigarette residue (contact with skin and clothes of people who smoke.) Best wishes,
