Guest guest
My endocrinologist originally said block and replace was useless and that any studies backing it were done in other countries, with a different diet (less iodine). For some reason, though, she changed her mind and agreed to do it for me once I got to the point that I was hypo on 100 mg/day of PTU. She didn't want to lower the PTU (no antibody tests but it's been only 8 months and I still have eye problems). I'd ask her why she changed her mind and agreed to do it but I'd hate to jinx this! I do feel really fortunate. And thanks, Pam, for the info on PTU not spoiling; after hearing about problems people had with inconsistent Tap or generics I assumed PTU could go bad too. I do remember Barb's post on her doc's suggestion to take PTU with grape juice (you also have to appreciate a doc who's willing to make a practical suggestion like that). Best wishes,
