, unfortunately none of us have been to Dr. H's new office, so

we can't help you with that info. I can tell you that from our

experience, do NOT rent a rental car, at all!!!! Pain in the bottom.

We fly into JFK, and there is a flat rate taxi ride into Manhattan

for $35 plus $3 bridge/toll plus tip. Pretty similar going back.

Buses are everywhere, subway for traveling around, and quick taxis

when you need to.

Hotels are a harder situation. The Excelsior is on the west side

just across from the Natural History Museum (go on line). They are

4 stars, wonderful and they are great rates for what you get (plus

their manager has been good at giving lower rates at high seasons to

our families). But you can usually stay there for $139 a night or

less. The taxi might be about $10 to get to the drs office.

The Helmsley Medical towers were next door to her old office, at

$175 a night, but full kitchen! But definitely not as nice as the

Excelsior. We love the Excelsior. Great location for doing some

sight seeing while in town, and the subway is a one block walk,

Central Park is one block away, buses go everywhere, and the hotel

has a concierge that will help you figure out things as well.

There may be good hotels much closer to Mt. Sinai, but Mt. Sinai, I

have heard, is about 30 blocks north of her old office on the east

side, so a LONG way from doing any tourist things. So.... if you

are flying in to see Dr. H and immediately flying right back out, I

would find a hotel near Mt. Sinai.

If you are seeing Dr. H and then spending a day or more playing

tourst, I would stay someone lower in the numbers, or at the

Excelsior.

It really does not matter which airport you fly into. My husband

says that LaGuardia is best, but I know of others who prefer Kennedy

or Newark. No matter which airport you choose, do NOT rent a car!

You are much better off using a taxi and they are easy to get at any

airport.

As for hotels, I know several people who have stayed at the

Excelsior. I believe they give a discount if they know you are

going to see a doctor. Salem is the one who arranged

this. It's in a great location and has a good reputation. And all

you have to do is catch a taxi in front of the hotel to get to Dr.

H.

I live in NJ, so I never have the problem of traveling like so many

people do. I am so thankful for that!
