Guest guest
Shomom, at thyroid.about.com, just posted an article on dealing with hair loss. She mentions that it can be a side effect of the T4 replacements, especially Synthroid. What's even more interesting is that she says evening primrose oil, 500 mg twice a day, can be effective in slowing or stopping hair loss. Recently someone raised concerns about a medical web site that claimed evening primrose oil could cause blood clots. People on this board weren't able to find a source for this claim, and 's piece doesn't mention it. Other sources say the opposite, that it can prevent clots. For those who decide evening primrose oil is safe, this is certainly a useful benefit. I don't know if other sources of essential fatty acids, like black currant oil, borage oil, or flaxseed oil would help in the same way.I've been taking it for years for PMS and believe it has helped my asthma, too. Best wishes,
