Guest guest
Hi Everybody, Sorry I haven't gotten around to posting this sooner. Despite (or is it because of ?) my current labs, which the endo office said showed everything as negative (not sure exactly what they meant by that but I'll find out my next visit) except for by TSH which is still lagging at .01, I haven't been feeling too spiffy. :-( These are the ones that I had done about 2 weeks ago, before I started on my mild dose (5mg 1x a day) of tapazole. Here is what they showed: TSI 90 %Baseline Reference Range: 125 or less T3, Total 143 NG/DL 60-181 T4, Free 1.7 NG/DL 0.8 -1.8 TSH <0.01 L MIU/L >20 years 0.40 -5.50 (Looks like the lab is still using the old ranges!) Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies <2 IU/ML <2 Also, here is what was said on my biopsy report that led the endo to confirm his suspicion that I had Hashimoto's: Examination of 11 stained slide smears demonstrate the presence of modest numbers of unremarkable appearing thyroid acinar cells with modest numbers of lymphocytes, occasional histiocytes and a fair amount of blood. The findings are interpreted as most suggestive of Hashimoto's chronic lymphadenoid thyroiditis. There is no evidence of malignancy. So tell me your thoughts everybody! Are these numbers good? If so, then why am I feeling so crappy this week?!?!? LOL Ever since I started my menstrual cycle this past Sunday, I've been feeling just awful. Is it possible that being on your period exacerbates your symptoms? Do the 2 things (Graves and menstruation) kind of feed off each other? I've started a journal of how I feel each day to kind of keep track of things and maybe in time I'll answer some of my own questions, but any comments are appreciated as always. :-) I've been very jittery and anxious again, crying at the drop of a hat. Nauseous in the mornings. The sweats have been bad again in the mornings too. My eyes are still wiggy feeling darn it, as the new prescription still hasn't fixed things up to par and I have to go back to the optometrist yet again. I think I may switch back to a pair of distance glasses and reading glasses again as I just can't seem to get the lineless trifocals to work right for me this time. Do any of you wear these type of glasses and did you notice it was harder to get them right with your Graves? Well, I guess that's enough whining for this morning. :-) Sorry to be on such a downer this time around......but I HATE feeling this way and I can't seem to shake myself out of it. GRRRHHH!!!! I'm hoping it is my period that is doing this to me and that I'll feel more like myself in a day or two. I see the endo again on the 8th of August and will have more labs done a few days beforehand. God bless each one of you here and may you enjoy your life today to the fullest. So much to learn, so little brain!
Guest guest
, Your labs and your symptoms seem like you are somewhat hyperT. If you are on an ATD, then maybe you need an increase in your dose. Next time they do labs, request Free T3 as well as Free T4. That value may be elevated, even when the others aren't above " normal range. " If so, then it would make sense you are feeling hyper. As for the Hashi's aspect, given what you've reported (and from what I understand about Hashi's and its treatment -- which is limited), I would think that you would simply focus on the Graves' end of the deal. Surprised about the dx of Hashi's given the absence of TPO antibodies. Hmmm... Maybe the findings could be attributed to Graves', but they just commonly associate it with Hashi's. Just a thought. When they were diagnosing me, they were throwing various diagnoses at me as well. I do have TPO antibodies, so I think I'm more likely to have both diagnoses than you. But like I said, nothing I know of needs to be done on that end while we are hyperT. At 11:33 AM 7/24/2003, you wrote: >Hi Everybody, > >Sorry I haven't gotten around to posting this sooner.
