Guest guest
Granola bars are great to have around. I do them the quick way with a handful of marshmallows, melt with a little gfcf margareine, remove from heat, squirt in some vanilla, smash up all the cereal Ian is currently refusing to eat, toss in puffed millet and any dried fruit lying about, and press into a pan to cool. (Oil hands first or you'll be sorry.) For Dessert granola bars, I add chocolate chips. The sugar content is a bit high with this method, though. However, I'm learning that it only takes a little bit of stickiness to make these bars turn out great. GFCFrecipes as a recipe for homemade marshmallows (no food coloring!), but I haven't tried that yet. > Ok here is what I did , I took the no bake date ball recipe, two cups > gf/cf corn flakes{i use natures path} 3/4 cup chopped dates, 1/2 cup > nuts{Iused cashews} 2 T honey 2T gf/cf marg{I used fleshmanns > unsalted}2 t lemon juice 3T sugar or powdersugar. Brett LOVES rice krispie treats (made with the Barbara's gfcf brand of rice cereal), and we have lots of half-eaten cereal boxes that the kids got sick of. I think I'll make some " granola " bars tomorrow. Thanks for being such a creative cook! Sue
