I am new here and had a question. My doctor had me on 135 of Armour

thyroid replacement for about 3 weeks. I developed some hyper

symptoms so he dropped it to 120. I still had hyper sympotoms for a

couple of days on 120 so he told me to stop taking it completly for 2

days and then to come back on at 105.

I have now been on 105 for 3 days after being off meds. for 2.

Will I probably just have 2 low days in the next couple of days from

the 2 days of being completely off my Armour even if this (105) is

the proper dose for me to be on? I could really tell I needed my

meds after 2 days off them. How long should things take to half way

level out?

My history is RAI therepy 5 years ago for Grave's disease.

Hi,

Every time you increase your dose with Armour you'll experience some

temporary hyper symptoms as your body adjusts to the change. These usually

settle down

within a week. Dividing your dose, taking it 3 times a day also helps keep

your blood levels stable. You won't notice the real effects of each change for

about 3 weeks.

The T4 in Armour has a fairly long half-life but T3 has a shorter half-life.

So within a day or two without meds, you'll notice symptoms of hypo. A few

days after you're back on it your levels should start to rise and you'll feel

better provided that you're on the right dose of meds. Take care, Elaine
