Danita,

Please see my previous reply to Pat for statistics on . His situation

sounds very

similar to yours. While his bone advanced steadily after showing signs of

adrenarche, he

had a huge bone age advancement at 8 years old. If we had known then what we

know

now, he probably should have started the aromatase inhibitor then to prevent

that

increase. He didn't start it until he was 10 yrs. 4 mos. and this was after a

long battle

between Dr. H & our local endo. Good luck to you.

Danita - I had no idea that your other children had medical issues,

as well -- boy do you have your hands full! I have been a member of

the oley.org group for a while now (I have learned so much about g-

tubes and other enteral feedings). It is there that i learned about

Hershsprung's -- is your son fed enterally?

Re adrenarche and our kids. You can expect a LOT of push back.

There simply isn't that much published data on this subject yet, and

these meds are NOT FDA-approved yet. There are multiple studies all

occuring on the subject of using the meds to postpone adrenarche, in

the hopes that it will also push back puberty allowing more time to

grow. So Dr. H isn't using a " new " theory -- just an unproven one

at this time.

Because she has so many RSS/SGA patients, she sees " anecdotal "

evidence far greater than most of these studies even have enrolled

in their studies! But again, it is just her experience.

So.... you are going to have to trust your local dr and Dr. H. Dr.

H seems to be quite good at talking with local drs and " convincing "

them of her " ways " . But you are likely to get push back.
