Sheryl,

I am suprised that your GI " freaked " about the dosage...my

pediatrician put Isaac on a higher doseage than the one recommended

by Dr. H even before we saw her at convention. I have been very

blessed to have doctors who are willing to listen to an

expert..maybe you should e-mail Jen Salem about getting a list of

docs that Dr. H recommends in your area?..Just a thought.

Funny you mention measurement discrepancies...my pediatrician's

weight and length is different from the endo and the nutritionist is

different than all of them...gets frustrating!

Hang in there...I am so sorry that we didn't get to meet in

Chicago..I asked around but never could find you.

Hi

Had to respond to this, I am in this boat.

Can I ask, what the appropriate dose of zantac was that Dr H

suggested? Liam (9.5kg) has just been started on 15mg(1ml)twice a

day, which our GI has said we can up to 30mg twice a day if we see

no effect, he has also said if Liam doesnt show any change after

that we should just stop. Its great that Dalias showing some

improvement, we havent seen anything yet, but Liam is 100% tube fed,

100mls every other hour so I dont hold out much hope of him being

hungry even if we do stop the ? reflux.

My recommendation with different Drs getting weight and height

differently is to do it yourself. Have your own scales and track

weight. I have even weighed Liam before a GI appt and recorded the

difference between his scales and my own, I can now work out what

his scales will be(about 400gms different to mine) every set of

scales will be slightly different. As for height Im afraid Im not

very accurate I can measure Liam 2cm different overnight, thats a

discrepancy I cannot fix, I think he stands differently.

Im very worried that our GI is so defensive to Dr Hs suggestions to

us, I know exactly how you feel, I wish we had as many choices of

Drs in Australia as you have over there. We are just taking the go

slow approach, hoping the zantac shows some difference, in which

case the Dr has said he will do an endoscope, but if we cant show

any improvement we have to assume he hasnt got reflux??? I dont

understand the logic.

Good luck

Jody(mum to Liam 3.2yrs 82cm and 9.5kg and cameron 6)

Dr. H. e-mailed me and said to give her 9mg/kg/day split into 3

doses daily. Currently, she is taking 1.2ml 3x/day...total of

3.6ml/day. I actually need to up it since she has gained 1 lb since

then. We have a GI appt on 8/30, so I am going to ask about the

Prilosec in the am and Zantac in the pm...but, Prilosec was

difficult to get in her the first time I tried..she threw up every

time.

I used to rent a digital infant scale, but finally gave it back

after months of obsessive weighing each day.

It sounds like your Zantac dosage is low to me. But, I am not a

doctor. (Although I feel like one sometimes :)
