Guest guest
, There are test that can be done to indicate if a child is in adrenarche, puberty or both. I believe the test for adrenarche is an adrenal stimulation test. For puberty, it is a LH/FSH test or Lupron stimulation test. The doctor can also look at LH & FSH levels in routine bloodwork if there is any suspicion of puberty. You will need to check with your doctor & perhaps Dr. H to determine if it is necessary to stop both adrenarche & puberty, but my gut feeling is that if you are trying to stop puberty, you should stop adrenarche too. Adrenarche can cause bone age advancement. My son is on Aromasin (to stop adrenarche) & Lupron (to stop puberty). I give the Lupron shots, but most doctors won't allow you to do so, unless you are in the medical field. Most moms aren't too keen on doing this anyway! It is a pretty painful intramuscular injection which requires a different technique of administering than growth hormone, insulin, etc. which are subcutaneous injections. The needle is thicker & longer for intramuscular injections. I actually change the needle that comes on the Lupron injection, as this could literally go completely through my son's skinny leg. In an intramuscular injection, if not done properly or even in rare cases when you did everything right, you can aspirate blood back into the syringe. Hope this info answered your questions. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my question - I have been patiently waitng for someone to answer - -------------- Original message -------------- , There are test that can be done to indicate if a child is in adrenarche, puberty or both.
