Guest guest
Hi Ron, I took bugleweed for just under a year - and I took it with a beta blocker. It was prescribed to me by a team of doctors at Bastyr which is one of the most highly regarded natural medicine universities in the country. I'm not sure where you heard your scarry stuff as I never heard either of those points. I have heard that some endos don't want to treat you if you take herbs with ATDs as it is more complicated to determine dose adjustments (they say) and most MDs just have a general mistrust of herbs anyway. Bugleweed is a powerful antithyroid herb and I don't really see why anyone would *want* to take it with their ATD - seems to me it's an either or thing - if you add some to your PTU, it's only going to make you go hypo - you would have to mess around with your doses. And if you think it's going to taste much better than your PTU, think again ;-) Hope that helps, Pam B. -- Bugleweed - anyone use it & like it? I am just wondering about the herb bugleweed. Who takes it & what do you find that it does for you? I've read both *great* reports, and also some scarry stuff, like (a) you can't take even a small dose of Bugleweed if you are on PTU or Tap, and ( that Bugleweed should not be taken if you're on a beta blocker. I am taking PTU, 50mg. (1 pill) three times a day (150mg. total per day), spaced exactly every 8 hours. I also take a beta blocker (Atenolol). Any advice or thoughts would be really appreciated, as I'd like to try Bugleweed. (But only if it is safe.)
