Guest guest
Greetings all, I have just returned from a visit with an endo for a 2nd opinion. RAI was encouraged....no surprise. She says my thyroid is NOT enlarged..as my other doc says. An Uptake Scan with technetium was suggested to determine if the entire thyroid is envolved or one or more " Hot " nodules. I am told if the thyroid has " hot " nodule/nodules that PTU is not the treatment. I assume that means RAI or surgery. Can you help me understand? I conference tomorrow on the phone to learn bloodwork results...TSH...Free T4....Total T4... It has been a month since bloodwork...only 2 weeks on 100 mg 2X's daily PTU . Why do they keep checking the TSH? Don't they know it will not change this fast? I hope Free T4 will decrease...May it was 4.1....June it was 3.6...July I am ever hopeful. What should I be pleased to have for a result? Does diet help? My acupunturist and the endo say NO. All last month I ate no SUGAR...I love sugar!!!....NO Salt or Iodine!!! Lots of boccoli...cabbage...yogart...(my gut hurts)... I want your opinion. Thank you for being out there, Ever hopeful, AJ
