Guest guest
first ? how many men out there with graves? and is anybody from the north alabama area? I guess my biggest problem is being a man i have not been vary proactive with my medical treatment.I have had the symptoms for about 6 years and just in feb.03 found out it was GD. Now i am 4 months into RAI my thyroid levels have only been tested once sence and were still hyper.I have had no thyroid meds. sence the RAI a boy let me tell you i feel like poo-po. its to the point i'm ready to feel better or go ahead and just die.but thats not a option. I go back to my endo wensday, so can anybody help with what i need to ask him or tell to help me get to feelin better? or should just go and punch him out? i know this must have been goin untreated for about 6 years and i'm worried what other damage this may have already caused to my body? and i need my life BACK.any advice would be greatly appreciated . thank you to everybody. Guest guest
ph, It's good news you're going to your endo. Ideally you should have your blood tests FIRST, so that you have something other than just symptoms to discuss when you see the endo--cause docs don't seem to do as well with " I feel like poo-poo " as they do with test results. I haven't had RAi, but there have been plenty of people here who have--some, left untreated as you are afterwards have even lapsed into comas and come close to death because doctors didn't realize how hypo they had become. And yes, there have been men in the group, still are but they've not been posting much. If possible go tomorrow first thing to the lab for tests. Get the endo to fax a request to your closest lab, for free t4, free t3 and TSH tests. I've found that providing the phone number and fax number of the lab to the doctor will get the best results. You should get results in a day, delivered to the doctor before your visit hopefully, so that when you go to see the endo, you are prepared. And please, get copies of the test results and share them with us. You will undoubtedly need to go on replacement hormone at this point, and when you do you should start to feel better. More than that, going this long without testing and treatment is endangering your health long-term. I am sure that others with more knowledge than me will pipe up here--but please, I do know enough to be absolutely certain you need these tests, NOW and that you and your doctor, from the results, should be able to start you on meds that help you.
