Guest guest
Hello, My name is and I'm 31. I've been reading with interest some previous postings. It's definitely opened my eyes as to the treatment possibilities out there. For the last few months I've been experiencing some mild nervousness/anxiety, occasional palpitations, sleep disturbances, irritability, and slight weight loss, but no eye problems. I never really had it checked into, because I've been having some other serious personal issues that I just thought were causing me stress. And I thought they would just put me on antidepressants. About a month ago I saw a new IM (internal med doc) to have him check my triglycerides, which had been high in the past. He also had them do TSH, which came back almost totally suppressed. He then ordered the TSH (suppressed again) again, along with FT3 (slightly above normal range) and FT4 (slightly above normal range). I apologize that I don't have the exact numbers. He said at that time that it appears I have hyperthyroidism. He wants me to have the uptake scan done (which I'm having done this week), and is leaning toward the RAI. He doesn't like the ATDs because of the Agranulocytosis risk, and because I would need to have constant monitoring of my labs, meds, etc. The complication here is that my wife and I are trying to get pregnant between now and 3 months from now. The IM and his Endo buddy say the uptake scan is no problem for me, but that I should hold off on the ATDs or RAI until the 3 months are up. Just wondering what you all think of my situation? I have absolutely no history of any thyroid problems in my family. Also, I have been taking a Centrum-type multivitamin for about a year that has 150 mcg of iodine in it. I wonder if that may be spurring on my hyperthyroid. I've decided to stop taking that for awhile. Thanks for listening (er reading), in Wisconsin
