Guest guest
Well I took Liam to the geneticist today. She thinks he is a smart little boy, with a high IQ, that is short starure with unknow cause, other then SGA. She is glad that he is on the growth hormone, and feels that for kids that are SGA it is good to be on weather it helps in the growth dept. or not. She feels he is well nourished and the fact that he dosen't eat is more related to the Sensory Intergration then anything else. She does want him in speech thearpy, because she said his language is and vocabulary is above normal but is articalation is not very good. She also suggested behavior modification, but I think once we start the OT again for the sensory issues that will help with the behavior. Now for what I am UGHing about...... He has a heart murmur!! another thing for me to worry about... Jed has one and an eletrical defect of the heart (SVT for those that are familuar) and of course me with my complex congenital heart defect. She said it sounded functional to her and did not suggest a follow up, but you know me..I will follow up... Mom to Liam (3 1/2 years old 34 3/4 " 27 lbs SGA / possible RSS, Hypothyriod, Epilepsy.) Started GHT 5/18/04 and Jed (11 years old) Tourettes, CAPD,SVT. Guest guest
, I would have to echo the UGH! I would be totally worried too. But, that his heart sounds like it is functional is great news. But, to be on the safe side, I would see a cardiologist. The whole heart thing freaks me out. had a small whole in his heart. They thought is was a VSD, but it was the other one that closes up on its own. I had echo's while I was pregnant. But, he has seen a cardiologist and has had two echos since birth and they say it looks good. But, I still worry. I hope you do what you need to do to make yourself more comfortanle with this. How encouraging that he is so smart. I think is pretty smart, too, but I am just his mommy! ) Jodi R. > Well I took Liam to the geneticist today. Guest guest
Hi , Definitely follow up with a cardiologist. Whether it is nothing, something or even a little something - you know just to keep an eye on or advise you regarding activity you need to know. I know you know you should follow up with your history but make sure you do it. For 3 1/2 years no one heard that had a murmur and when I went I was told that she had a large hole in her heart. So for 3 1/2 years I had no idea that I probably should have done a few things differently. has a guardian angel, my grandmother who my sister dreamed of holding a baby girl and I was behind the rocking chair - even before I took my pregnancy test. It just so happens before my grandmother passed away we found out that she had a pin size hole in heart that never closed. Again, hopefully it is nothing, but it's better to have it looked and watched if necessary. Good luck. I wish I could send 's cardiologist to you. He is amazing. If not for him she would never have been sent to a geneticist and ultimately never sent to an endo. B 4 3/4 RSS and Kelli 2 Non RSS > Well I took Liam to the geneticist today.
