Guest guest
Hi all My name is , I work at home. My son is 3 1/2 and is developmentally delayed. We don't have a diagnosis yet but should at the end of this month. He is nonverbal and has some of the signs for autism so I am starting research on what might possibly help him. We started EI twice a week and switched from cow's milk to soy in September and almost immediately noticed a difference in eye contact and general interest in the world around him. We started him on supplements 2 weeks ago and those seem to be helping. We are now gearing up to start a GFCF diet so I joined this and the recipe list. My mom and MIL are both going to help prepare food for him so at this point I'm mostly looking for recipes. Particularly one that resembles Goldfish crackers. is addicted to these. His likes for most foods seem to wax and wane but Goldfish remain constant LOL! If anyone has a website or would like to recommend one for making GFCF food or buying prepared food please email me. I'm not sure this diet will help but it sure can't hurt so why not! Thanks all, *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Schaewe http://www.belliesandbuns.com *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
, www.gfcf.com is the best place to start for assistance with this diet. You really need to read " Unraveling the Mysteries of Autism and PDD " by Karyn Seroussi and " Special Diets for Special Kids " by also. Here's a recipe for goldfish crackers I got from this list. 1 cup Bette Hagman's GF flour mix 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. xanthan gum 1 tsp. salt 9 oz. package Soymage Vegan cheddar cheese\ 1/2 cup CFGF margarine 1 tsp. seasoned salt (pinch of garlic powder, pinch of salt, pinch of paprika) Cream marg. and cheese. Add flour and seasoned salt and mix together until it forms a ball. Use a high end mixer or food processor. Divide dough into 3 or 4 sections. If dough is oily, blot oil on paper towels. Wrap in wax paper and chill for at least 2 hrs. until dough becomes firm and easy to handle. Preheat oven to 400 deg. Roll dough as thin as possible and use a fish shaped cookie cutter to cut into shapes and place shapes onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes until crisp and lightly browned. WTTW: This diet is a lifestyle change. Don't think in terms of how many days you've been doing it, think in terms of months or even years. Also, gluten is insidious. You may find out that after thinking your child was gluten free for some time, that he indeed was not. We found out almost a month into the diet that ' breakfast cereal contained oats. Duh!! The lady at the health food store said it was gluten free. Big mistake listening to anyone at the hfs. If you jump into this with both feet, (which I highly recommend) you'll soon know leaps and bounds more about it than anyone hfs clerk.
