Nick,

Here's a thought that you can take or leave. I just thought I'd throw it in

and see how it flies. If she is so bent on divorce, you can strike a

bargain with her. Perhaps you can say, if your thyroid levels (Free T3 and

Free T4) are perfectly stabilized within the normal range (that should be

close to the middle of that range) for at least 3 (or 6) months (however

long you think makes sense), you will consider her request valid. Until

then, she is not in her right mind. You want to get a copy of each lab

sheet, and keep them in a folder.

I agree with Terry that you need to get her parents involved, and that

sending her to Japan for a visit is in order. She should also see a

Japanese endo who is good with Graves' and the use of ATDs. That would be

an excellent place to start. You can say these are all conditions she would

need to satisfy if she wants a divorce, and then reiterate that you still

believe in your relationship and hope that she will eventually decide to stay.

Nick,

My gut reaction tells me that it is best if you can stay together under one

roof. If she is living apart from you, she can slip away more easily, and

may not abide by the agreement. Of course you can't lock her up, but I

wouldn't encourage her leaving the home to live in a separate apartment.

Whether she goes to Japan or a relative comes here will have to be worked

out. Hard to say what's best, as I think it depends on the circumstances.

Whatever works! (My motto.) You will need to use your judgement of course,

as you are the one who knows your situation best.
