Guest guest
Hello again! I keep on seeing posts about red beets and other veggies we don't normally consume. In my family though,in Italy, they eat beets-I really don't 'like' them, but they boil them and eat in a salad with S & P, oil and vinegar-. This is my thought: even though eats different veggies and fruits, he may like red beets too...so, how do I go about cooking them? suggestions anyone? And if boiled, do your kids like the texture (this was why I never liked them: too " slippery " in my mouth)??? loves many raw veggies because they're crunchy (carrots, fennels, firm red tomatoes...). So I am not sure he likes cooked ones (only spinach can be cooked for him, no others). i.e. : When he was a baby he loved jar peas, but as he grew up, he hated peas-texture I believe!-and spinach make him poop a lot!so I have to give him very little of them, and randomly. anyway, Thanx for your help, Cristina-WA. Guest guest
We had beets last night. Buy some that are all about the same size (so they are done cooking at the same time.) Wash under running water, cut off the tops and bottoms but leave the skin on. Cover with water and boil until tender when poked with a fork. Under running water again, rub each beet and the skin should come off easily. My husband (who grew up eating beets, unlike me) loves canned shoestring beets with vinegar on them. The rest of us eat them plain. Lorilyn Beets??? > I keep on seeing posts about red beets and other veggies we don't > normally consume.<snip> how do I go about cooking > them?
