Our little guy had tubes put in his ears at abt 12 mos. At that

time, he was having almost constant ear infections, antibiotics every

day, etc. Sound familiar?

Took him to the ENT the other day. One tube has fallen out. He has

fluid behind the other eardrum. No infection, but the doc wants to

do tubes again. What do you guys think?

Brett had tubes put in for the 2nd time a couple of months ago. In

my book, I prefer surgery to the overuse of antibiotics. (He was on

them for almost 18 months straight!!) This time, in addition to the

tubes, we had his adenoids taken out to help prevent further

blockages in his ears. The surgery has been a great success- we

haven't even had to use the antibiotic drops in his ears since!

Just a word of warning, though- the ENT tried to get me to put Brett

on an oral antibiotic after surgery, " just in case " . When I

explained that Brett's GI and immune systems were already messed up

because of overuse, he told me that the main reason they prescribe

them is because the adenoids have a " foul odor " as they heal. No

real risk of infection, just want to keep our kids sweet smelling!

(Of course, we threw out the prescription and Brett was fine.)

And people wonder why antibiotics don't work anymore...

Good luck!
