Guest guest
Hello All, Especially Terry I have been lurking lately and not really reading all the posts so I hope you will forgive me. In addition I have had a problem for some time getting into the posting site and have been too lazy to fix it. I would like input from all you who have had acupuncture. I did so myself for months following a sepsis last year. I adore my acupuncturist. He is a great guy and seemed to help the overall toxicity and pain quite a lot. I am concerned about a nagging problem which occurred. During one session there were needles inserted in my left hip (because my sepsis was caused by a steroid injection to the right SI joint). I have a long history of FMS and the needle must have set off a very painful spasm. (Having had FMS for so long I have an incredibly high tolerance for pain). The needles were removed and I had several treatments after that but the spasm has never gone away completely. It makes walking, sitting and lying down painful and it varies in the degree of pain. Recently a sore appeared over the area. This may have been caused by a TENS unit I use at night or something else. It's the something else that concerns me. Is it possible (having read the post about the " small hook " at the end of Chinese acupuncture needles) that a bit of the needle is still in there and working itself out? Or something else? Or might this be just another of the aggravations Graves/FMS people have? My chiropractor thought at first it might be something like shingles because there are several other, but smaller sores which will not heal along the same nerve line. This does not act like herpes virus though. And it doesn't look like it either. Appreciate any input. My allopathic doc is impossible, no help there. Laurel Partial thyroidectomy 1974, RAI x2 2000. TSS 2002 On synthroid .112 not very sucessfully (hyper and hypo symptoms after my sixth endo) Acupuncture - Sittin on the Fence Hi Everybody I have had six treatments with acupuncture and hope to do at least 4 more. I usually get 2 needles - one near the big toe and the other near the ankle. I get 1 needle in each lower leg muscle at the side. I get 1 needle in the thyroid and one a little lower. I get 1 needle at the side of each palm for sleeping. I feel wonderfully balanced when I leave my sessions and recommend them. I occasionally feel pain in the thyroid when the needle goes in but the lady said that that is because the organ is unwell. I have only experienced this bruising feeling (no marks) in the beginning and once again in the middle treatment. The times that I had this bruising feeling my thyroid felt a little swollen and tender but it settled down in one day. All the other acupuncture points were fine. Hope this information is of help to anybody wanting acupuncture. ============================= on liz.jameson@...
