Rebuilding bone

To add to Fay's good advice about taking calcium--

My endo said that a little extra vitamin D would help the body use the calcium.

The nutritionist I saw agreed it was OK to take some extra D (it's included in

my calcium-magnesium supplements) unless you get a lot of sunlight.

My sister has a hard time swallowing the calcium tablets and was able to find

capsules. I never asked the brand as I assumed they'd be more expensive but

could check with her.

I was taking Actonel to rebuild the bone I lost ('osteopenia in hips and

spine " ). I understand it's one of few osteoporosis drugs that a premenopausal

woman (such as myself) can take. Unfortunately after about 9 months it started

irritating my esophagus, a common side effect, so I stopped it. I'm on PTU and

wanted to be very sure I didn't get some irritation that would keep me from

taking those pills!

My heart symptoms have subsided so I'm doing some weight bearing exercise and

signed up for a class of yoga emphasizing " muscular precision and heart. "

Hopefully we'll be doing a lot of breathwork too. It should be a nice antidote

to some aspects of this very frustrating experience!

Best wishes,
