Guest guest
Hi le! If you can't get the Geneticist to refer you to an Endo, then I would circumvent him, and ask your Ped to do so. The Endo should be willing to monitor your son's growth. I haven't had any recent experience with tubes, but when my son (now 22) had this procedure, numerous times, he was right as rain within a day or two. The day of surgery, all he wanted to do was sleep, but after that he was his normal, hyperactive self. Hope this helps Pat (g-ma to , RSS, 33 months, 22.5#, 31.8 " , G-Tube)
Guest guest
Hey - Jane here ('s mom) just had tubes put into her ears about 6 weeks ago - a breeze. I did insist that the dr. allow her to eat up to 4 hours prior to surgery - in that bottle I put a tablespoon of cornstarch. I also insisted that she was the first case (this eliminates the possiblity of them running behind schedule). In regards to the endo. I believe they want these kids to go to get an accurate measurement for both weight and height. This way, at age 2 they know exactly what their growth pattern has been like. I have had going to one (every 3 months). Hope this helps. Hugs to Datreon!! Jane - mom to 1 yr, 13lb 14oz, 26 " , Gavin and Aidan.
Guest guest
Hi, Emerence is now 20 months old and has had an endo since she was about 11 months old. An endo will follow growth and would eventually be the one who would probably prescribe any GH therapy. Tubes - Emerence had her first set at 9 months and the 2nd at 17 months (one fell out so they had to replace them). At South Shore Hosp in MA I actually put on the scrubs, carried her in and held her while they administered the gas to make her sleep. Then, I went out, changed and went to the waiting room where I waited about 5 minutes both times and then I could see her as the procedure was done. As soon as the anesthesia wore off, we left (about 1/2 hr after she really woke up) and went home. Her nap was about 30 min longer but then she was off and running! > I was just wondering how to get my son to see an endo. His geneticist says > that Datreon is doing so well that he does not need to see one until he turns > atleast two. But Dr.h wants him to start seeing one now. Our insurance > doesn't cover anything without a refferral, any ideas? > Also what does an endo do until they start the GH? Also, he is getting sent > to see an ENT to see about getting tubes put in his ears because of numerous > ear infections, is this painful to the children after surgery or what is the > recovery like? > Thanks for listening > le mom to Datreon 1yr, 14lb 12oz, 25.5in, periactin > > >
