Hi ,

You sound hypo to me. Do you know where your numbers are right now ? If not,

be sure you do have at least a FT 4 every four weeks. This is the only way I

found to stay on top of every thing. A FT 4 is only 28 bucks, and silly to

not do if it means the difference between feeling well, lack of physical

complications from incorrect thyroid levels, and more importantly feeling

like do-do for any longer than is humanly possible.

______

I am so glad you quit the Armour, I have seen others have the same problem,

and personally do not see why anyone would use it in BRT. We hypers do not

have any trouble converting T4 into T3. But then I 'AM' the queen of common

sense.

All the information we see, gets filtered through my mind and unless

there is logic that I am able to see, I keep on searching. This does end up

being some odd sort of obsession to me, but... hey- worse ways to spend my

time. Keeps me safely off the streets you know . :-)

_______

I have watched you doing the same sort of thing, and am very happy you are

now at the point where original thinking is possible. Right at first we do

not have enough solid education to be able to do this.

Sounds like you are starting to 'get it' kiddo !

_______

Remember, if you are the least bit hypo, this is your thyroid feeling

emotions, that seem very real. Get the levels right and you are then able to

make the correct next steps.

___

Everything has risk and benefit. There will always be a trade off in

anything in life. We each make our own choices.

For example: I find any artificial sweetener to be a worse trigger for me

than sugar. So I try to keep my sugar intake lower, but do not torture

myself. Any diet change has to work in the long term, because the same

triggers will always be with us.

All flavorings / MSG disguised BTW, set me off badly.

I CAN eat all real foods for life. This only means no restaurants and no

pre packaged food. THAT can be done, and for life.

If I am too hungry and tired to cook, and no left overs or a stash in the

freezer, I simply eat real food that doesn't have to be cooked. See ? Even

lazy people can do this. Opps ! I meant efficient, not lazy. :-)

______

OK... Risk / Benefit on your tooth.

If it is needed to chew, then not having it will be detrimental to your

health in the long term. If it is in front and the loss causes loss of self

esteem, it must be kept.

The root canal would be nice not to need, but you need your teeth !

If it is a tooth just hanging out and has no real use, than simply have it

pulled. Much easier than the root canal.

I hope they gave you something for the pain right now. No extra points for

suffering ya know.

_____

We can do depression later.

My new lines are in this post as a experiment. Yahoo is pizzing me off

lately. It has been cramming everything so close together I can hardly have

the patience to try to read it. Anyone with TED must be having a really hard

time.

3 1/2 years Graves', TED, and PTU. Remission due to SLOW reduction of PTU

(despite an incompetent endo ! ), improved lifestyle, excellent nutrition,

herbs, and looking at the big picture.

Pills alone only help the symptoms. We must help our bodies to heal.

Hi ,

I'm sorry you're feeling down in the dumps today. I think we all have those

days (tho try to minimize them!). It seems like you are feeling that you

have a mountain in front of you -- that is, having to find new health care

providers on all fronts. That is overwhelming. So best to break things down

into manageable steps.

I agree with Pam, that you may be hypO. I would get labs now, damned be the

doc. So what if you piss him off, you're probably going elsewhere soon

anyway. Share the results with us, if you want feedback. Then is the matter

of your tooth. That would be a priority, as pain can make you depressed. If

you proceed one step at a time, you are less likely to feel paralyzed.

P.S. If you are depressed and not hypO, then an antidepressant may be

what's needed. Celexa is in vogue right now, tho don't know if you've

already tried the SSRIs (like Prozac or Paxil). SAMe may help, as well as

St. 's Wort. What did you hear about Desipramine and heart problems?

Also, or alternatively, I would recommend you seek out a therapist who

specializes in cognitive therapy; cognitive therapy has been demonstrated

in studies to be the most effective form of psychotherapy for depression.

You're welcome.

So the dentist is the first stop. Then, the labs; perhaps you can go for

them next week if you are still feeling out-of-sorts. Three weeks should be

enough to know if your meds are too high. I have been getting labs more

frequently (sometimes every 2 weeks), as I am fine tuning to arrive at a

maintenance dose. So therefore I think 3 weeks is long enough when you are

trying to stabilize. You can stretch out to 4 weeks or so after that.

Hope you feel better soon,

That's very kind of him to stick up for the insurance company (and

minimize his risk of looking bad for spending too much of their money)

but have you called the insurance co. yourself?

Take care, Fay
