Guest guest
Hi Jody Hope you and Liam are well. I did see a recipe for blended concoctions in a newsletter put out by an organization by " Kids with Tubes " . It is run by speech and language pathologists, nutritionists and I believe a gastroenterologist. I will try and find the newsletter later. I bet they have a website - you might be able to find it yourself! I think blended diets have gotta be healthier as long as it's balanced and you supplement with vitamins and minerals etc. Good luck! Guest guest
I have not tried this with Max, but the last time he was being tube fed, the insurance company refused to pay for formula because they said we should be doing what you are doing. When I ran it by Dr. H., she agreed. While she was willing to help us fight to get it paid, she did think that blending our own food and putting it down the tube was a good option. I also know there is a " formula " that is made this way, but I have never tried it nor do I know anyone personally who has. I hope the blending really works and that the reflux is helped for Liam. After talking to Max about how his reflux feels, I just did not realize how uncomfortable it really is and how it affects his day and mood. Jodi Z. Guest guest
Jodi, The formual you are referring to is called Compleat. It is a blenderized tube feeding (has meat and vegetables in it). Dr. H recommended this for . We tried it right after the convention for a week or so. The only problem with it for us was that it has less calories than the one he is on now, and he can't tolerate any more volume at night, and I don't want to have to go back to bolus feeding during the day. However, I am considering giving this a try again if I can add something to it to give it more calories. I don't think 's GI doctor here wants to put him on this formula. We have an appointment with him & Dr. H in December, so we'll see what happpens. Kim C.
