Guest guest
Hi Debby- Forgive my ignorance but I am not even sure how they determine bone age...x-rays? When do they normally do this and what purpose does it serve? Does a pediatrician order the test? None of my docs have mentioned anything about it. Is it something they do when they start GHT? Just curious.. Mimi (Mom to Isaac- RSS, Hypothyroid, almost 8 mos (10-19) 11 lbs 12 oz, 24 1/4 "
Guest guest
Half of your questions were posted in an earlier newsletter, so I will find that. Then I will forward the other half to Dr. H and repost the balance in the next newsletter, and email you Debbie, OK? Guest guest
That's great thanks. I don't get all of the newsletters, I miss a couple a year. I think they go to Guyana instead of Canada! LOL I am on a quest now to figure this out. I have read that bone age is actually the distance of the bone plates, indicating amount of growth left. (in crude terms). So I think I'd modify my question to be: What causes bone age growth and likewise, what causes no bone age growth? In other words, how can a child on GHT not have advancement of bone age from year to year and what makes it grow? Is that kind of clearer? I'm not sure how to ask the question because I'm not totally sure of the process. Thanks again Debby Re: question for Dr.H. > > > Half of your questions were posted in an earlier newsletter, so I > will find that. Guest guest
I have also wondered about bone age. If your child is SGA, is bone age an issue? If it is, how would you convince a doctor to check it?
