Guest guest
I have been reading a lot about these and have had many messages from people doing the Feingold diet. His list of high phenol foods varies from other lists and I would like to know which one is right. He lists cocoa as high but my other list from http://allergies.about.com/health/allergies/library/weekly/aa040300d.htm lists is as negligble. Feingold doesn't mention olives and this other lists says it is very high. My son freaks every time we cook with olive oil and yes it is cold pressed good oil. Can anyone clear up the confusion? Guest guest
- for our son who is very sensitive to phenols, we don't trust anything except his reactions. Which happen to be very obvious. Chocolate is not something that my son's blood work shows he's allergic to but give it to him and his stimming for 30 hours. I've never given him anything with olive oil before so can't say on that one. The Feingold diet has probably helped us more than GFCF because his phenol reactions are more severe that gluten or casein. Both are mandatory in this house though. Guest guest
The feingold diet has a web site...http://www.feingold.org You can start looking there, they do give a list of what phenols to avoid. It was very helpful when we started it. I got my first hint of them in Seroussi's book, Unraveling the Mysteries of Autism and PDD. When we took bananas out of Triston's diet, he stopped self injurous behavior and his wild nightly body slamming till he was silly games in his crib. It's made a huge difference!
