Guest guest
we went to Chilis and I was > reminded of why we don't take anywhere. He > screamed constantly, cried, took off his shoes, threw > his food, etc. We got the worst look from the people > at the table beside us, and my husband almost lost it > and started yelling at them. It seems like it's just > too stressful to take him anywhere and not hardly > worth it. He's 16 months old now, and , I just HAD to write you two back. I have a NT 16 month old and to be perfectly honest NT kids are pains in the " beep " out to dinner too. My NT dd climbs and sings and tried to get everything on the table and play with it or lick it (gross). AND if you don't let her she shrieks at you. LOL! I have an 11 yr NT ds who I did not take out to eat between 18 months and 3 yrs because it was just so boring for him that he'd end up running around and practically tripping waiters. <G> Ben, our SI kid (we got his dev ped to label him PDD,NOS in order to get services like speech therapy and OT, thru a special program at my dh's job... even though Ben is very social, very verbal, loves to pretend play, great eye contact yadda yadda...he's just a sensory integration nightmare!) is STILL a pain in the butt at restaurants AND CHURCH. We have given up there (church) too. Ben would not go to sunday school. Had major tantrums if we attempted to put him in there. So, we did the same swap out of kids for various church services also, until it became too much. It's alos hard when the people a church don't get your kid. ( " Hello, where's the love of Christ folks, heh??? " ) However, there are some other moms at my church (about 4) with special needs kids and we have been given permission to have a special needs sunday school. So , hey, maybe we'll be back at church soon. LOL. I'd have to get Ben to LET GO OF ME FIRST! Talk about seperation anxiety. You'd think he was 2 years old, not almost 5!! Anyway, so just remember, any of you out there with ASD toddlers. It's not called the terrible twos for nothing. Even NT kids are horrific at this age so know when you get stares out and about, you have got plenty of company!! Mom to three: 11 NT, Ben 5 in August SIDys, Autumn 16 mos NT and in the beginning phase of the " terrible twos " YIPEE!
