Guest guest
I'm new to all this too, and there may be others out there who can be more helpful, but we started out by being just wheat-free also, as opposed to gluten-free. My son had a urine peptide test come back with a level of gliadorphin at 192. Normal is less than 20. So being wheat-free (for about 6 months before the test) was not the complete answer for him. He needs to be gluten-free. Also, it's my understanding that my son doesn't have celiac disease. His problem is that he improperly metabolizes gluten to form opiates. In celiac disease, the intestinal lining is messed up somehow, which is different from our problem. Hope this helps, Debbie
Guest guest
Hi , My youngest son is ADHD and he has improved from the diet. His wheat levels were fine, but his casein levels were higher than his autistic brother's. I have seen improvement in his excitability. His reading and math has improved. FYI, both boys have too high mercury, tin, aluminum, arsenic, nickel and lead levels, as do I. So, you might want to check out the metals in his system. With all the wheat that is put in EVERYTHING, and the growing understanding that cow's milk is not made for human consumption, the gfcf diet makes sense for all of us. My allergies have DISAPPEARED after 20 years since being on the gfcf diet and my boys (all 3) are NEVER sick. Good luck with it all..
