Guest guest
It took my husband and I over a year to decide that " yes " we would start our 6 year old son on GH. We started in June. In August my son said his nipple was sore when I put sun lotion on him. I then noticed that it was swollen. He has developed gynecomastia (breast development) in both nipples now. At our endo appointment 2 weeks ago we discovered that he has responded to the GH by growing 1 inch. Our endo also told us that if the gynecomastia continues and/or gets worse, he would advise us to stop the GH because the breast tissue may not go back to normal. Our endo did acknowledge that he has never had a patient with this side effect before. Our expectations were very low going into this but now knowing that it seems to be working I can't imagine stopping it. I also wonder what else it is doing, good or bad to my son's body that is not visable to us.
Guest guest
Hi, I checked the web page for the type of growth hormone my son uses. It does list this as one of the side effects. The most common side effects reported here have been joint pain and headaches. But, even these reports have been rare. Other than growing, there is probably nothing else bad happening. I would continue as you are doing now and keep a close eye on your son. I hope this helps. Guest guest
Are you sure the breast bud development is as a result of gh? I remember Dr. H. talking about breast bud development in RSS kids/boys, but I thought it was in relation to the body producing too much estrogen. I would contact Salem about this one. It is worth looking into in case the estrogen in causing the development 'cause I'd hate for you to have to stop gh if it is working on helping your son grow.
