Guest guest
We're home from our appointment with Dr. Baptist. He did a scratch test and these were the results: 2+: cocoa, cashews, egg, grapes, milk, celery, chicken, A mold, C mold, mushroom, wheat, yeast, B mold, Smut GR (what is this?). 1+: hazelnut, oat, orange, peanut, pork, rice, shrimp, soy, tomato, cod, white potato, salmon. The only things he didn't react to were the apple, beef, cinnamon, corn, walnut, and tuna (which we won't feed him because of Mercury). We were only able to do 32 scratches because he is so small. We have an appointment for the next 32, then we'll need another appointment to finish the groups. What does all this mean? I talked to the doctor about it, of course, but I'd love to hear other parents' suggestions and what they have done. Do you eliminate all the foods that they reacted to? Or is this where the rotations come in? I tried to look in archives, but I didn't have much luck. After 's appointment, we had to go to the children's hospital to have blood drawn to send to Alletest (?) in Massachusettes. It completely slipped my mind that is allergic to alcohol, and it didn't dawn on me until he started having a reaction while she was drawing the blood. He gets really inflamed everywhere alcohol touches him. The lab tech freaked out, apologizing, but it was my fault, I forgot about it! So they had to have a nurse come look at it, and washing it off with water helped a lot, so then we had to go let Dr. Baptist's nurse look at it. She told me that we needed to get a Medic Alert bracelet for him, because he could die if he was in an accident and they had to use a lot of alcohol to put an IV in. So I have info on that--$35, then $15 every year, one bracelet included with 60 characters engraved. So the blood they drew was for a 92 food Elisa panel, a Celiac test, and all those gluten and casein antibodies. He also sent me home with test kits for hair metal toxicity (try getting enough hair for that off of a 16 month old boy's head--looks like his brother took a razor to him), stool kit to send to Great Smokies for parasite and wheat, and a Great Plains Organic Acid Teast (we had this done 9 months ago, so it's a repeat). Dr. Baptist did tell me that there is a pediatrician in his office building that will give the MMR separately, so that is a relief. I think that Dr. Baptist suspects Mercury poisoning, but has never had an MMR, so he must have gotten it from one of those immunizations they give during a baby's first 6 months. SCARY! Anyone have any input? Please share. I'm feeling a little depressed. He's allergic to every milk sub that there is, with the exception of almond milk, and we're not sure of that yet.
