Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have a question about being placed on PTU again after having the RAI treatment on Sept.17 2003. The doctor's I have want me back on the PTU 10/02 since I won't likely see a change from the I- 131 for 3-6 months. I relapsed from the PTU that is why I had the RAI done in the first place. I could not stand the symptoms of the Graves and Hyperthyroidism anymore and at the time I felt I had no other choice. Right now I am feeling pretty much the same but the beta blockers somewhat help me out still. The reason I do not want the PTU is because the past couple years the doctor always went by my lab results not by the way I was feeling. I felt he was giving me too much because I was having side affects. I just feel like letting the RAI take its course while still taking the beta blockers. What does everyone think? The protocol I was given was a lower dose of the RAI to try and get me normal and not Hypo. I guess it is my doctors theory. It is possible that I will need another treatment because of this theory so this is another reason I don't want the PTU. Thank you, Lucille
