Guest guest
Hi Pam, I was always a little sorry I couldn't take a beta blocker as they seem to have helpful benefits for Graves' (the calcium channel blocker helped OK, though). My one day on a half beta blocker, as I said in my post, was a disaster. It also made me feel a little woozy or light-headed. And this after I'd been a good girl, waiting six weeks to see an endo with no meds and steadily increasing hyperthyroidism, trying to get to sleep at night with drum practice going on in my chest. Yet through it all I keep wishing the doctors knew better, which is why I waited for someone to give a more knowledgeable answer than my impression that beta blockers and asthma don't mix. What I always find, though, is that you-all on the board know the research better and know how to read your body better as well (and my young endo is so nice and was just hired to teach at the medical college!). As a newbie just a year ago I was happy to hear from people in remission, so I'd say, don't worry about talking about your situation. Even when I didn't understand a lot, it was reassuring to hear from real people who'd been through (and through) it! The change of season brought my levels down, though since my endo's doing a new assay at a new office she doesn't recognize it (that's OK, I've got 90 days of meds during which to find an MD who, unlike this one, believes in TSI and will test them before I go off my PTU). But the seasonal thing reminds me that I'm more reactive than before and need to be more sensitive and responsive to the old body, which I hope will still be with me when I turn 50 next year. So again, thanks for your posts.
