,

Thanks for thinking of me! As per my earlier post, I am weaning myself off

the PTU right now (hypO on 12.5mg/day), and hoping that I'm not making a

mistake. I will continue to monitor myself closely (with proper labs), as I

don't consider myself to be in remission, as I still have antibodies. I

just am sick of seeing all my hair wind up on the bathroom floor, in my

food, etc. I didn't take my 12.5mgs last night, and less hair loss.

Hopefully the trend will reverse so I don't go bald. My HR is in the 60's,

so I think I'm safe to be trying this approach.

I did check out the list of docs for the NY Group, and read posts. There is

a lot of talk about Dr. Gage in Manhattan. I saw mention of a Dr.

Bock in Albany () who specializes in " family practice, " and

there is little info on him. The trouble is, those who recommend these docs

are hypO, not hyper. I saw a recommendation in the posts for a doctor who I

spoke with already, who does not believe in ATDs. I haven't stumbled upon a

recommendation for a doc who is good with ATDs. One thing that is good

about this list is that it did eliminate 2 doctors for me -- I have heard

their names but didn't know any details -- glad to save my time, effort and $$!

I. told me about a doctor in Manhattan that sounds promising. I will

probably see her if I get into a pickle on my own ;-) And will definitely

do so if I get pregnant. I am hesitant to do BRT when trying to get

pregnant, because I think that it could cause confusion early on, if it

happens. I am not even sure that being on a low dose of ATD and synthroid

would be better than simply being off meds, especially for mild hyperT.
