Guest guest
Hi, Most cases of hypertension do not have a specific cause. Essential hypertension is related to kidney and related problems and these disorders are ruled out to make sure there isn't a treatable cause for the blood pressure rise. Usually, testing for thyroid disorders is included in the initial workup for hypertension. Many experts think that hypertension is an autoimmune disorder and related to an atherosclerotic inflammatory process that reduces the diameter of blood vessels. What is known is that certain dietary changes, primarily adding more fruits and vegetables and calcium/magnesium generally helps. Reducing weight can also lower blood pressure as can stress reduction. Some people are also salt sensitive. For them, reducing salt also helps lower bp. Hope this helps, Elaine
Guest guest
Hi , Not off topic at all. We all need to know this. Hyper can cause high blood pressure. Hypo can cause high or low blood pressure. TSH is a good thyroid test to use for simple diagnosing. Cholesterol: Will be lower when hyper. Will be higher when hypo. -Pam L- who wishes all those times they checked my cholesterol and told me it was amazingly low... that I was too nervous and a vacation would fix my high blood pressure, and that it could not possibly be thyroid... no need for a test.... well, you get the picture.
