Guest guest
Hi all, This is kind of off topic. but I have a friend, who has highh blood pressure but they can't find a reason why. I've suggested that he have hisself tested for thyroid problems. Is this a good suggestion? What tests should he have run? Is there a doctor that specializes in high blood pressure only? I just want to help my friend. He has been poked and prodded, and they don't have a clue. They have even checked his kidneys for a blockage in his artery there, and found nothing. But it doesn't sound like the right test have been run. They say that his kolesterol and things like that are good. But no thyroid test have been made. He's getting very very discouraged. So, I'm trying to help him, because I know how it is to be just told that it could be either this or that. I know this is just a strictly graves support list. But anything that you guys can suggest will be of great help too him. Thanks for listening. Guest guest
, that is the first sign I had that something was wrong. it took me 18 months after that because my dr refused to check my thyroid. What i finally had to do was look at the symptoms list, of hyperT and hypoT, and write down which symptoms I was having, then the dr's can't ignore it. Guest guest
Does GD have an effect on cholesterol levels? Or am I misunderstanding? Carol Re: OT blood pressure and thyroid -Pam L- who wishes all those times they checked my cholesterol and told me it was amazingly low... that I was too nervous and a vacation would fix my high blood pressure, and that it could not possibly be thyroid... no need for a test.... well, you get the picture. Guest guest
My cholesterol is very very low (strikes me it was 122 on last physical early this year, internist said he had never encountered such a low count). It is assumed the low figure is driven by my Graves. However, I never suffered from high cholesterol (although I might always have been high thyroid and not have known it <grin>). I am in somewhat a contained condition again, taking a half tapazole on Tuesday and half on Saturday. My last lab looked fairly decent, I have an appt. Monday with the ophthalmologist to track whether my TED remains dormant and that eyes continue to measure the same. At the end of the month another appt. with endo and more labs. I am hoping I am again heading into remission. Elaine (Virginia) Hello Carol On Saturday, October 18, 2003, you wrote CM> Does GD have an effect on cholesterol levels? Or am I misunderstanding? Guest guest
, For me, when I go hypo, my BP goes up. One more test can't hurt, maybe you're on to something.
