Guest guest
Hi, I've been noticing the thread on getting kids to eat. Unfortunately, I know how tough it is (although I was on the end of the kid who wouldn't eat!). First of all, hang in there!! I am always amazed at how much my parents went through with me and how much everyone on this list goes through with their own kids. You guys are so awesome! And I'm sure that your kids will be eternally grateful for everything you've done for them just as I am to my parents. I know there were days they thought I would never see my teen years, much less my twenties! I also wanted to add that one thing my parents did when I was younger that I really liked and helped get me to eat more was that they created a " Hillary Shelf " in the pantry. It was the lowest or second to lowest shelf and they always kept crackers, cereal, chips, peanut butter, etc, etc. on it so I could help myself any time I wanted. Not only did this give me a great sense of independence, but I also ate more often. I'd wander over the pantry and eat a handful of crackers at regular intervals during playtime, and those calories can certainly add up quickly! It also helped that my parents let me pick out the food that went on that shelf and that no one else was allowed to touch the shelf! I ate off of it for a long time just because it was such a novelty that I had my very own shelf... in fact, it became such a big deal in our house that my parents had to create an " Shelf " for my brother because he was so enamored with my shelf . Anyway, I'm not sure if that would work for some of your kids, but it might be worth a try! ~Hillary 22, RSS
